Many Find Comfort in Chaos
Why do we find comfort in chaos? We all know what we need to do to give us stability but we choose not to do it. For example, a lot of us have been in education since we were 4 or 5 years old. We know how schools work. We get homework. The homework is due on a certain date, but rather than doing it at a convenient time, a lot of us choose to wait until the last minute. Chaos over rationale.
Let’s take another example. Toxic relationships. Almost everyone these days has been in some sort of toxic relationship, situationship or entanglement. More times than none, the people in these situations know how chaotic it is but they still find themselves going back to the same situation. Again chaos over rationale.
I spent the first 2 years of my university degree going to a solid 1.5 lectures a week (.5…how? You leave halfway). However, I still managed to get a first class both years, both times just meeting the cut off mark but that was good enough for me. The conversation was always the same though. ‘Next semester I’m going to go to all my lectures and be on top of my work’. But wasn’t the case until now, my final semester in my final year.
I’ve been on top of all my work, lectures and seminars but for some reason I feel more out of sync now than in my previous years. The truth is, I probably just found comfort in chaos also.
